Arrival - Planning

Finished Photo

There are many balanced rocks in the park. This is, perhaps, the best known. It is very close to the side of the road. You can walk right up to its base. We chose another vantage point, crossed the road and climbed up on the slickrock to a higher elevation. We waited for the sun to drop very low on the horizon at sunset, before taking our photographs in order to get the best warm light. The red rock seems to light up and turns a fiery red at that time.
