Summer Classic Horse Show
Daily Report by
Carol Dean-Porter

August 10, 2000

Today was the second day of the eleventh annual Summer Classic Horse Show in Huntington Beach, CA. The weather warmed up to about 80 degrees, still with wonderful ocean breezes.

The divisions concluded today were the Green, Regular, Modified, Low, Pre Green and Young Hunters. Tomorrow the Hunter rings start the Junior, Childrens, A/O, Adult and Pony Hunter divisions. Also beginning are the medals, equitation classes and the Hunter Breeding division.

The Jumper rings continued with Modified, Junior, Childrens, Adult, Training, Schooling and Pony Jumpers. Tomorrow, more of these classes continue with the featured event being the $2,000 South Coast Plaza Gambler's Choice.

Today was the Windsong Farm annual party during the Music Derby practice session. There are about 10 entries who will compete on Saturday afternoon in the $2,000 Orange Coast Music Derby. Included in the field are two prior winners, Keli Cook and Carol Dean-Porter.

There are many vendors including jewelry, tack stores, chap makers, embroiderers, artists, engravers and ice cream sellers. The management does its best to ensure that the horse show runs on schedule so that everyone can have a comfortable day.
