FLEMMING 4 ~ 1981 - 1999

Flemming was a 16.3 hand Belgian Warmblood gelding. Originally imported from Europe by Barney Ward, he was purchased by Linda Gaede for Ronnie Freeman. Later he was ridden by Tony Font and Kyle King.

He competed in major jumping competitions around the world, including the Aachen Derby, Monterrey, Spruce Meadows, Indio and was the once the winner and twice second in the GTE high jump.

He was a bold and brave heart, very strong and always had great pride in his true love, jumping. He never considered that he could not jump anything in his path.

I had the privilege of riding him for 4 years and sharing his confidence and power. I am grateful for the opportunity to have known this wonderful, kind and gentle soul.

I will miss him always.

Carol

High Flight

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air."
